چکیده

Currently, most renal masses are detected incidentally while still small in size because of the widespread use of radiological imaging, and most pheochromocytomas are localized in the adrenal glands as unilateral lesions. A 5 × 4-cm right adrenal mass and a 19 × 13-mm exophytic left renal mass were synchronously detected by contrast enhancement on computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging in a 47-year-old male with hypertension. The patient's preoperative serum and 24-h urine catecholamine levels were elevated. Initially, robotic transperitoneal right adrenalectomy was performed, and histopathology confirmed a 4 cm pheochromocytoma. After 3 months, transperitoneal zero ischemia robotic left partial nephrectomy was performed, and histopathology demonstrated clear cell renal cell carcinoma, Fuhrman grade II, 17 mm in size with clear surgical margins. This case indicates that sequential robotic surgery is feasible and safe as a minimally invasive approach to remove bilateral renal and adrenal masses. Zero ischemia robotic partial nephrectomy is also feasible and safe for selected small renal masses.

Open Partial Nephrectomy without Ischemia; Case Series

Aims: Renal vascular clamping during partial nephrectomy can lead to renal ischemia and kidney damage due to reperfusion injuries, but a surgical technique without any ischemia can eliminate such unwanted effects on kidney function. The present study aimed to demonstrate the feasibility of partial nephrectomy in conditions where the renal artery is ready to be clamped. Patient Information: In ...

Renal Cell Carcinoma with Double Synchronous Contralateral Adrenal Metastases

A 63-year-old male patient visited our hospital with a right incidental renal tumor, which was found by ultrasonography for the follow-up study of chronic hepatitis B virus infection and diabetes mellitus. Consecutive computed tomography revealed a right renal tumor and two left adrenal tumors. Further systemic imaging study and hormonal examination suggested one right renal cell carcinoma and ...

CASE REPORTS : Zero Ischemia Robotic Laser Partial Nephrectomy : Use of the Thulium laser in Renal Cell Carcinoma

Objective To describe use of a robotic-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy technique utilizing the thulium laser for tissue welding without clamping the hilar vessels. Materials and Methods A Thulium laser at 30W and a 400 micron fiber placed through a robot arm to excise and achieve hemostasis during resection of renal masses. The masses were localized intraoperatively with a 10mm laparo...

Bilateral synchronous adrenal metastases of renal cell carcinoma: A case report and review of the literature

Renal cell carcinomas (RCCs) metastasize to the adrenal glands via various mechanisms, including lymphatic vessel arterial embolism and retrograde venous embolism. The rate of ipsilateral metastasis is 3-5% and the rate of contralateral metastasis is ~0.7%, however, synchronous bilateral adrenal metastases are extremely rare. Therefore, the optimal diagnosis and treatment strategy for this cond...

Radiofrequency ablation: an alternative treatment method of renal cell carcinoma.

Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) is a common renal parenchymal malignancy. Although complete or partial nephrectomy is still the gold standard of management, a lot of minimally invasive techniques are currently emerging into the field of treatment. Recently, image-guided radiofrequency (RF) ablation has received increasing attention and been proposed as an alternation to more invasive procedures such...
